Privacy Policy

Curious The Traveller (curiousthetraveller.com) is a personal travel blog run by Harpreet Singh. This page explains what information is collected when you visit, why, and what choices you have. In short: I collect very little, never sell it, and use it only to understand how the site is used and to reply when you get in touch.

Information you give me

Contact form. When you send a message through the contact form, I receive your name, email address, subject and message by email. I use them only to reply to you. I keep these emails as long as needed for our conversation and delete them when they’re no longer useful.

Comments. If you leave a comment, we store your name, email, website (optional), comment, and IP address so we can show the comment and check for spam. Your email is never published. An anonymized version of your email may be sent to Gravatar to show your profile picture, if you have one.

Information collected automatically

Google Analytics. This site uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors use it: which pages are read, how long people stay, roughly where visitors come from (country and city level), and what device and browser they use. Google Analytics uses cookies to do this. It doesn’t tell me who you are. You can learn how Google handles this data at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites and opt out with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Spam protection. Akismet, a spam-filtering service by Automattic, may check comments and form submissions to block spam. See automattic.com/privacy.

Content from other websites

Some pages include content from other services, such as YouTube videos and Instagram posts. When this content loads or plays, those services may collect data about you, set cookies and track your interaction, just as if you visited their sites directly. Their own privacy policies apply:

Affiliate links

Some posts may contain affiliate links, for example to hotels, travel gear or eSIM services. If you book or buy through one of these links, I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. The company you buy from may use cookies to track that the purchase came from this site. I only recommend things I would use myself, and affiliate links will always be disclosed in the post.

Cookies

Cookies are small files stored in your browser. This site uses cookies for analytics (Google Analytics), to remember your details if you leave a comment, and through embedded content (YouTube, Instagram). You can block or delete cookies at any time in your browser settings. The site will still work.

Who your information is shared with

I don’t sell, rent or trade your personal information. It’s only shared with the services listed above, which help run the site (Google Analytics, Akismet, and the hosting provider that stores the website). Some of these services may process data outside your country, including in the United States.

How long information is kept

  • Contact messages: until our conversation is finished and they’re no longer needed.
  • Comments: as long as the comment stays published.
  • Analytics data: kept by Google Analytics for up to 14 months, then deleted automatically.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example, Canada under PIPEDA, or the EU/UK under the GDPR), you have the right to ask what personal information I hold about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted. If you’d like to do any of these, contact me through the contact page, and I’ll respond as soon as I can.

Children

This site isn’t directed at children under 13, and I don’t knowingly collect their personal information.

Changes to this policy

If anything here changes, for example, if I add a new service, I’ll update this page and the date at the top.
